You can purchase Naloxone over the counter at major pharmacies. However, there is also a free option listed below.
Individuals can receive free Naloxone kits and/or fentanyl test strips through the Jefferson County Public Health Department. To receive your free kit, please visit the Naloxone and/or Fentanyl Test Strip Training Registration site of the Jefferson County Public Health Department. Enter your information, watch this eight minute video, and select how you would like your Narcan kit mailed to you.
First Responders (Law enforcement, Fire Departments, Volunteer Fire Departments, etc.), providers, non-profits, educational and community providers request for Naloxone (Narcan) Nasal Spray:
The Alabama Department of Mental Health is able to provide free Narcan kits to first responders, agencies, nonprofits, and community providers. If you are an agency that responds to emergencies involving individuals who may be at risk of experiencing an opioid-related overdose or to an emergency, complete the steps below:
Before receiving Narcan, you should complete the Narcan Law Enforcement Roll Call video training module. In this training module, you will learn:
How to identify an opioid overdose and check for a response.
Proper administration of Narcan Nasal Spray.
How to place a patient in the recovery position until emergency medical assistance arrives.

Age/Race of recipient
Nonfatal or fatal results
Name and phone number of the person requesting the replacement
